In a major milestone for The Last of Us Part II’s production, Neil Druckmann announced on Twitter overnight that motion capture for the game’s two lead characters Ellie (Ashley Johnson) and Joel (Troy Baker) has wrapped, marking the end of all cinematic shoots. It follows tweets in the last few days that they had filmed the final scene and that actor Laura Bailey has also wrapped, but with the two main protagonists now finished, it means that the sequel to the hit 2013 game is well on its way to release.

Of course, there’s still quite a long way to go before the game itself is finished, and as the Naughty Dog account noted, these still need to be turned into the cinematics that we see in game.
No release date has publicly been stated for the game, but going off Naughty Dog’s track record, they’ve typically taken around seven months from announcing the end of filming to game’s release – certainly that was the case for Uncharted 4 and the first The Last of Us. If that’s the case here, we could be looking at a November release for The Last of Us Part II’s release.
