Update: Unfortunately for Splinter Cell fans, Ubisoft have quashed this unusual little story. A representative explained to PCGamer that “Julian was obviously joking as Julian likes to do. It looks like our creative directors are having fun right now. We do not have any announcements to make at this time.”
So that’s nice. It did, in truth, sound a bit too good to be true for some of Ubisoft’s most prominent producers to be out on the lash in Lyon and just start blabbing on Twitter, and the meandering tweet and all encompassing hashtags were a bit over the top.
Still, Ubisoft have been teasing Splinter Cell for a while now. It’d be quite nice to get a new game announced at E3, wouldn’t it?
The original story follows:
If there’s one series that has been sorely missed by many a fan it’s that of Splinter Cell. One of the iconic franchises that appeared to have no end the previous couple of generations has not appeared this generation, and fans have wanted to know what’s going. There have been rumours of a new Splinter Cell for a while, and now we have the following Tweet from Ubisoft Creative Director Julian Gerighty.
Working on the next #SplinterCell with @danhaynow and @romcamor in #Lyon.
Can’t wait for #E3.
Crossover with #TheCrew2 with @_fergus_ :)
Only missing @GhostRecon and @Rainbow6Game – but on their way.#FarCry#ForHonor #TheDivision2 #RainbowSixSiege #GhostRecon pic.twitter.com/oiwMPTny9Y— Julian Gerighty (@jgerighty) May 14, 2019
Followed by:
Ok – plz don’t retweet. I may be in trouble.

And just in case it gets deleted a screenshot.
Maybe it’s out of context or maybe Ubisoft are really pulling back on announcement trailers. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

I’m just excited to see Sam Fisher in The Crew 2, isn’t that what we’ve all been waiting for?!
