The Epic Games Store sale begins, up to 75% discount plus an extra $10 off

Epic have announced a new sale on their fledgling game store and it seems like you could pick up a bit of a bargain. The ‘Epic Mega Sale‘ will run from today, May 16th, until June 13th and offers up to 75% off the price of some games.

As a bonus, for every game purchase over $14.99/£13.99 Epic Games is providing an additional $10/£10 off to players at no cost to the publisher or developer. Games on offer include the recently released Shakedown Hawaii, which has a tenner off and is down to £4.99, Saber Interactive’s World War Z which is down to £18.10 (so with an extra tenner off is just eight quid!), and the final season of The Walking Dead which is down to £4.24.

Darksiders III has a tenner off, as does Vampyr, Borderlands III, and Dangerous Driving, while Metro: Last Light Redux is a steal at just £3.74. The recently announced John Wick Hex from Bithell Games can be pre-purchased for just £4.39.

During the sale period Epic will be expanding its “free game every two weeks” program by taking the cunning movie of making it a “free game every week” instead. The first free game in this offer will be No Code’s experimental adventure game, Stories Untold.

It has also been announced that Epic Games will be receiving a very special BAFTA award at an event at The London West Hollywood hotel on 12th June.

“We are delighted to present this year’s Special Award to Epic Games,” said Chair of BAFTA’s Games Committee Dr Jo Twist OBE. “Having powered the creativity and imaginations of development teams of all sizes over the years – many of whom have gone on to win BAFTAs – it’s right to mark their huge contribution with this Special Award as part of BAFTA’s commitment to celebrating and promoting the very best in games. Epic is at the forefront of the evolution of the global games industry and the impact of their innovation is undeniable.”

Tim Sweeney, founder and CEO of Epic Games, will accept the award on the company’s behalf.
