Earlier this year EA confirmed that a new Need for Speed title was in production at the time the company wasn’t quite ready to talk about it. Fast forward to a couple of weeks before E3 and EA Play where some news has arrived. That news is that this new Need for Speed game will be released this year. Can we expect a full reveal at EA Play in a couple of weeks? Well, no. Breaking away from tradition the Need for Speed team has stated there will be no news in June about the game. We haven’t even got a title yet.
Ben Walke wrote on the EA forums:
Are you going to hear more about the next NFS title? Yes. Is it being released this year? Yes. Will we be doing anything in June? No. It’s as simple as that, but we wanted to give you a heads up before you started asking “where are you?” Our goal is to deliver a truly memorable high-speed entry into the 25 years of NFS, rather than a series of promotional events. The game matters most – a sentiment we bet you share with us.
This Need for Speed game will be a culmination of over 25 years of experience with the franchise, so hopefully, we’ll see the best bits of classic Need for Speed franchises like Underground and Most Wanted. What are you hoping to see in the next Need for Speed?
