Microsoft have announced a set of sweeping discounts across hardware and software, set to go live on Friday 7th June, just in time for the hullabaloo of E3 press conferences this weekend.
From Friday, you’ll be able to get $100 off an Xbox One X, $50 off the rather fancy purple Xbox One S Fortnite Battle Royale Special Edition Bundle, $50 off other Xbox One S bundles and the new Xbox One S All-Digital Edition – this will now be $199.99. If you’re looking to pick up an extra controller, there’s $10 off those, and custom Xbox Design Labs jobbies will be starting at $64.99.
All of the discounts announced are in dollars and pointed at the US, but we expect similar offers to roll over to other regions as well and for them to compete with Sony’s Days of Play sale.
Of course, there’s no question that the digital Xbox store will be getting a global sale. There will be up to 75% off hundreds of games, and newer titles such as Mortal Kombat 11, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and The Division 2 will be discounted.
Microsoft are going big at E3 this year, with no competition from arch rival Sony to court developers to join their press conference. Their briefing will be held on Sunday 10th June at 1 PM PST / 4 PM EST / 9 PM BST, and is set to run for a full two hours, longer than ever before. Alongside 14 first party games being featured and the pick of the third parties, we can also expect for the company to focus on the future. With Sony announcing technical details of the PlayStation 5, Microsoft need to respond to this with talk of their own next gen console, but also have other projects on the go, such as Project xCloud streaming (which has rivalry from Google Stadia), Xbox Game Pass coming to PC, and more.
