Pick up a PlayStation Classic (mini PS1) for £27 with this deal, a saving of £63!

Suffice to say the PlayStation Classic, aka the PlayStation Mini, didn’t sell like those proverbial hot cakes, and certainly didn’t sell as well as NES and SNES minis. That does mean there’s quite a lot of stock laying about and Amazon have some of the console at a knock down price.

For £26.99, a saving of £63, you can bag yourself the console and two controllers. It comes pre-installed with the following games: Battle Arena Toshinden, Cool Boarders 2, Destruction Derby, Final Fantasy VII, Grand Theft Auto, Intelligent Qube, Jumping Flash!, Metal Gear Solid, Mr. Driller, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, Rayman, Resident Evil Director’s Cut, Revelations: Persona, Ridge Racer Type 4, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Syphon Filter, Tekken 3, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, Twisted Metal, and Wild Arms.

We reviewed the console and said “While the roster is lacking in some areas, the actual hardware is fantastic. The form of the PlayStation Classic has been perfectly shrunk down – it’s actually smaller than the mini SNES – and it goes right down to the vents on the bottom and the detailing of a fake Parallel port cover on the back. There’s a satisfying feel to the power, reset (to return to the main menu) and open (used for software disc switching) buttons on the top. The controller ports have been replaced with basic USB, while around the back are micro USB for power and HDMI for a straightforward connection to a modern TV.”

” A lot of the games actually hold up rather well despite the aliasing, but given the possibilities that 3D emulators offer to clean up the games being played, it’s a shame they couldn’t be taken,” added Tef. “This is really meant as a stocking filler for Christmas, and there’s just enough nostalgia to warrant that, even if it feels a bit dear at £90 and you’ll be thinking of the classics that didn’t turn up to the party.”

  1. Looks like it’s sold out

    • Got one from Currys, also £26.99 with free p&p.

Now, better start googling how to install extra games!

      • Google this – Autobleem. Make sure you have a good USB 2.0 memory stick, Sandisk ones seem to work well.

      • Thanks man! Have downloaded a few games to add on when it arrives. Tony Hawk 1-4, GTA2, Tomb Raider 2, Ape Escape, Crash Team Racing, Driver, Wipeout 3, Spyro, & Music 2000. Any other recommendations? I had a PS1, but I was 18, so only hand a few games. All my disposable income went on weed and the pub, lol!

  2. £25.00 instore @ Smyths if there is any left

  3. Spotted it in Argos here for €37 – that’s quite a drop but it was way overpriced at launch.

    • £26.99 in Argos, but “limited stock”. I’d have to go to the 7th nearest Argos to get one.

      • Ah yes – i forgot about Argos and their “limited stock” ruse.

      • I’m not sure it’s a ruse, just more a case of they can’t be arsed moving stock around too much. They’ll move things between stores in the same town (there’s 4 of them here in Swindon, for unknown reasons), but any further and they won’t bother.

I’m sure they then don’t get any more stock because they’ve got loads of it. Stuck in their least popular store in some town nobody wants to go to.

        Which is probably Swindon, really.

They also weirdly don’t let you check to see if some things are in stock anyway unless you go into a shop.

How is Argos still a thing??

  4. I noticed it today for 30 EUR in Saturn
