Fallout 76 to retain the Nuclear Winter beta, canvas bags finally arrive

Fallout 76’s battle royale mode, Nuclear Winter, was in beta last week and due to popular demand it will be left in the game and will continue to receive updates.

“We’ve been blown away by the reactions and responses we’ve been seeing all week to Nuclear Winter,” posted Bethesda. “It has been so amazing to read all your experiences and see everything you’ve been sharing. There are so many incredible up-and-coming Overseers! Vault 51 is lucky.”

“With all the excitement and popularity, we wanted to let you know that the pre-beta sneak peek of Nuclear Winter will remain on and continue to receive updates, so keep sharing your feedback. There’s more to come! Thank you again for playing, sharing, and being the best community there is.”

Nuclear Winter merged Fallout style gameplay with battle royale, with creatures to hunt for gear but also other players to be wary of. You can take your normal Fallout 76 character into the game but many of the stats are re-balanced for the mode. 73 perks are available, 10 of which are exclusive to the mode, and  C.A.M.P. setup is vastly simplified and no longer requires resources to build. Nukes have also been tweaked and now have a much smaller impact, but the effect is still persistent until the end of the match.

In other Fallout 76 news, remember the Canvas bag fiasco? Bethesda advertised the collectors edition of the game with a rugged looking West Tek canvas bag but when buyers opened their packs they found they had been given a rather ratty and cheap nylon bag. Bethesda decided to give everyone $5 worth of in-game credit to make up and as you might expect that wasn’t received well. At the start of December 2018 they eventually announced the would be replacing the bags and now, six months later, they have started arriving.

Looks much better, doesn’t it?
