Back from the dead, The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series arrives this September

It appears that much like a shambling zombie the Telltale Walking Dead series refuses to die quietly as it has been repackaged yet again, including the final episodes, in one huge collection.

The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series includes all four seasons of the game, The Walking Dead: Michonne, and the 400 Days DLC. You also get ten hours of developer commentary, behind-the-scenes bonus features including concept and character art galleries, a “Return of The Walking Dead” documentary short, a music player, new animations, and quite dazzlingly, “faithful recreations of classic menus.”

Note entirely sure what that means, do they mean Harvester carvery listings from ’86, or perhaps the legendary Wimpy menu from 1988? Your guess is as good as mine.

The most exciting bit – or at least that’s what the press release wants us to think – is the new art style called graphic black that “pays homage to The Walking Dead comics” and was only previously available on the final series which was developed by Skybound rather than Telltale.

“Graphic black is a loving tribute to the source material and a powerful art style that makes the game look like a living comic book,” said Kent Mudle, Creative Director for The Walking Dead and the Still Not Bitten team at Skybound Games. “An idea the team formulated and perfected with THE FINAL SEASON, this new visual styling offers longtime fans a way to play the series again in a brand-new light while giving new audiences a smooth visual ride across all seasons.”

Take a look, see if you can get excited about an Instagram filter because it’s really not doing anything for me.

The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series will be available both digitally and physically for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, with a digital-only PC release via Epic Games Store. It will launch on September 10th and will set you back $49.99 or local equivalent.

Update: We’ve received clarification that the PC release is only digital and so physical copies can only be found for PS4 and Xbox One.
