DC Universe Online will be released on Switch in August

During Comic Con Daybreak confirmed the release date of the MMORPG DC Universe Online for Nintendo Switch, and that date is August 6th. As with all other platforms, DC Universe Online will be a free to play title, however, there are some things you should know. One of those is that current DCUO players will not be able to transfer accounts to the Nintendo Switch version, so if you want to jump in you’ll be starting from scratch.

There will also be no crossplay with other platforms at the current time as the Switch version will be running on its own server system, though the function hasn’t been ruled out for the future. Players will have access to interact with over 300 DC characters though including 30 content episodes to get, as well as the content from more than 100 updates that the game has had since it launched back in 2011.

Way back then it was covered in an extensive review and was highly praised, but a lot of things have changed since then with other mass multiplayer games filling the space between then and now. On Switch alone DCUO will have to go up against the fantastic Warframe which just keeps growing with the content on offer.

Still, it’ll be free so worth giving a shot at least. I will leave you with DC Universe Online’s original cinematic trailer, and what should have been the basis for the DC Cinematic Universe.
