Warhammer: Vermintide 2’s Winds of Magic DLC blows onto PC next week

The Winds of Magic are kicking up and gusting into the co-op action of Warhammer: Vermintide 2 next week, as the game’s first expansion launches for PC on 13th August. It features new enemies, a new level, new game mode and tons of new content to grind for in the game’s loot system.

As a meteor crashes into Reikland, it draws Beastmen to its epicentre to claim it as a Herdstone, with nothing to stand in their way but the five heroes that just got done with stopping the Skaven and Chaos forces from doing all kinds of weird stuff in the main game.

The Beastmen feature in the new Dark Omens level, joining the rest of the campaign. There’s also a new way to play with the Winds mode taking a chunk of an existing map and giving you increasingly difficult challenges with “Winds of Magic” modifiers as you battle to complete the objectives. These will tie into the new leaderboards system, as well.

Of course, there’s also a raised level cap, new Talents, new weapons for the heroes to collect, as well as a new top difficulty level to test yourself against.

The expansion is officially out next week, but if you’re an eager beastie, you can get in on the fresh content a little earlier by pre-ordering. Do that and you have access to a final beta build right away.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 released for PC back in March of 2018, with Fatshark taking their sweet time to then bring the game to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 through the rest of the year. A new Versus multiplayer mode was announced alongside the Winds of Magic DLC at E3, and is currently in beta testing on PC.

In our Warhammer: Vermintide 2 review, we said, “Vermintide 2’s co-op battling is nice step forward over the original. It’s gruelling at times, and that can sap the fun out when you’re failing missions and not making progress, with the weighty combat, the additional sub-classes and a long and deep progression of difficulty and loot, there’s plenty here for those that want to be in for the long haul.”
