CI Games have zoomed in and lined up their sights on a release date for the latest game in their popular sniper action game. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts will be out on 22nd November for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
After the middling disappointment of Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, in particular with its quite insanely long load times, Contracts is being pitched as a “return to form” for the series. Certainly it still seems to be built on the same gameplay principles of stealth, tactical thinking, scoping out a location by drone, and then lots and lots of sniping.
The Dynamic Reticule System will have your back, regardless of your skill level in game, letting you take ballistics and atmospheric conditions into account. You also have plenty of other gadgets, including a scout done, integrated binoculars, augmented reality and various bullet types.
The game will take players to Siberia and features five regions within that setting, the above trailer featuring Black Gold. Within each area you take on the titular contracts, which task you with executing key targets in an area. There’s 25 contracts in the core campaign, but the sandbox style regions are full of side missions and ambient tasks to take on.
Last time out, Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 saw CI Games tackle a more open world setting for the first time. In our review, Aran said that “Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 has the sniping down to a tee, which should be expected with the number of years CI has been working on the series,” but criticised the game for its by-the-numbers story, unlikeable protagonist, and generally rough around the edges presentation with bugs and excessive load times. Here’s hoping that, a couple years later, CI Games can put all of that experience into a more polished and well-rounded product.
