Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD was announced last month after speculation began to mount after a new Twitter account for Super Monkey Ball appeared to mark the 20th anniversary of Super Monkey Ball series. Super Monkey Ball : Banana Blitz was the last console version to be released and that was a Vita exclusive back in 2012. There was also a mobile title called Super Monkey Ball Bounce which released in 2014 for mobile devices, but home consoles have been missing the monkeys for near enough a decade. Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll was the last home console release and that was for the Wii in 2010.
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD is a remaster of the 2006 title that was also a Wii exclusive, and now series director Masao Shirosaki has given his thoughts on bringing that game to new consoles.
