Need For Speed Heat first gameplay trailer shows the difference of night and day

Last week EA and Ghost Games released the first teaser trailer and information regarding Need For Speed Heat. The main difference between Heat and previous games is the importance of night and day, and how the world changes as a result of what time it is. During the day players partake in sanctioned races of the Speedhunter Showdown to earn cash to upgrade vehicles. Cops are patrolling but they’re generally quite calm while the sun is up. It all changes when the sun goes down in Palm City where the point is to survive. The new gameplay trailer shows just how things can change after sundown.

During the night players are taking part in illegal races and this doesn’t impress the cops at all. In fact, they’ll be hunting players down to stop them from getting through the night. The night isn’t just about earning extra rewards but outrunning the police because if they catch you that’s it. Once caught night time ends and the game transitions back to daylight, so you’ll miss out on any races that would have been held during the night as well as the rewards on offer.

A few days ago Ghost Games stated that Need For Speed Heat would not feature loot boxes but instead post launch DLC car packs. This claim was made on Reddit.

We plan to have post launch paid-DLC in the form of car packs. Later this year, we’ll introduce a time-save pack, that will show all collectables on the map.

Honestly, that’s it. No loot boxes and the above.

Need For Speed Heat will be available on November 8th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Subscribers to Origin Access Premier will have access on November 5th, along with a first play trial going live on that same day too.
