Screens from the next Resident Evil game trailer have leaked

You have to be a bit careful these days when uploading things to the internet and Capcom have slipped up. It appears they have set up a feed for the reveal of the next Resident Evil game, code named Project Resistance, but in doing so they created some thumbnails for YouTube. These have been scraped off the channel and voila, your first look at the game.

In the first screen we can see what appears to be the team of new characters you play, as we know the game is a four player co-cop shooter.

The three other screens give us closer looks at the characters

The characters do look a bit like Kevin the cop, George the surgeon, and David the plumber from Resident Evil Outbreak, but they could be new characters. It has been noted that the website for Resident Evil Outbreak has been wiped and now just has the words “OK”. This is exactly what happened to the Resident Evil 2 website before the remake was announced.

The official reveal is just days away as it will be unveiled on September 9th at 3:00PM UTC, which is a very friendly 4pm for those of us in the UK. The game will also get a gameplay demo at the Tokyo Game Show a few days later and some lucky people will even be able to play it.

If this is Resident Evil Outbreak then fans may be disappointed as many were clamouring for a remake of Resident Evil 3. The remake of the second game in the series was a critical and commercial success.

“This Resident Evil 2 remake is a phenomenal update of a classic game,” we said in our review. “It combines the best of the original’s narrative and puzzles with the ammo crafting of Resident Evil 3 and the action gameplay of Resident Evil 4 to create a hybrid that still manages to feel like classic Resi.”

“Old fans will enjoy the nostalgic retread of Racoon City in all its newfound glory, whilst newcomers will get to experience one of the finest episodes of the series as it should be. The remake has been more than worth the wait, and the evil of the Umbrella Corporation is back in residence at the top of the survival horror pile once more.”

UPDATE: More evidence that this is a remake or new game in the Outbreak series!
