There’s a Nintendo Direct tomorrow, featuring Pokémon Sword & Shield and Luigi’s Mansion 3

Nintendo have just announced the latest Nintendo Direct stream, set to beam 40 minutes of fresh gaming info and trailers at you in the run up to the release of some of the biggest Nintendo Switch games out this year.

The Nintendo Direct will take place tomorrow on 4th September at 11PM UK time, midnight European time, and in America at 6PM EDT and 3PM PDT. To watch it, head to the Nintendo Direct website or the Nintendo UK YouTube channel, where the broadcast will be streamed.

What can you expect to see though? Well, they’ve announced that the stream will be focussed on 2019 Nintendo Switch titles, with the two headlining acts being Pokémon Sword & Shield and Luigi’s Mansion 3. However, it sounds like they’ll also be dropping reveals and trailers for other Switch games out in what’s left of this year.

Pokémon Sword & Shield will be out on 15th November, marking the first time that the mainline RPG series is on Nintendo’s main home console. Set in the UK-inspired Galarian region, the game features a more dynamic 3D view, large open areas to explore, new raid encounters and a Dynamaxing system that makes pokémon well big. However, the previous trailers and the announcement that this will be the first mainline game not to feature a National Dex have come in for a lot of criticism from the community who believe that Game Freak should be achieving greater fidelity and gameplay nuance on higher end hardware.

Much less controversial is Luigi’s Mansion 3. Out on the terribly spooky 31st October, the game sees Luigi spending a night in a very haunted hotel, breaking out his Poltergust once more to battle all kinds of spectres. Each floor in the hotel will have a different theme, while Luigi himself has a bunch of new tricks, such as a plunger to sucker onto and break things down, a new slam attack and being able to summon a Gooigi companion to overcome certain obstacles. Catch our hands on Luigi’s Mansion preview here.

So tune in for those two games and (probably) quite a bit more!

  1. Skater XL was announced for Switch last week. Didn’t see anything about it on here though.
