The quirky loveable puzzle game of cat and mouse astronauts is back, as Sega announced ChuChu Rocket! Universe as a new game coming exclusively to Apple Arcade.
20 years later… it’s time to go ChuChu crazy all over again! 🐭🐭🐭

Almost 20 years on from the original game’s debut on the Dreamcast, where it helped to pioneer online console gaming, ChuChu Rocket! Universe features a new storyline and puzzles, but with the exact same goal. You have to help the ChuChu mice escape the hungry KapuKapu cats, placing directional arrows in the grid-based world to help them reach their rockets and escape.
Developed by HARDLight in Leamington Spa, the game now features a 3D world that can slap the puzzles on globes, cakes, and more. There’s also new mechanics thrown in with switches and teleports, and a mixture of brand new puzzles and those inspired by the original game.
ChuChu Rocket! Universe is part of the soon to open Apple Arcade, which launches alongside the release of iOS 13 on 19th September, but it’s not entirely clear whether or not the game will be part of the subscription service’s launch line up. You’d have to assume so, but it’s not certain. It will launch on iPad and Apple TV alongside iPadOS and tvOS 13 on 30th September, and then arrive on Mac with October’s macOS Catalina launch.
Apple Arcade will cost $4.99/£4.99 per month – following a one month free trial – giving access to a catalogue of over 100 new and exclusive games for the service. Apple say that the games won’t be on “any other mobile platform or subscription service”, meaning that many of the games will also be able to appear on console and PC, though it doesn’t seem as though ChuChu Rocket! Universe will be within that group. That price allows you to play these games without limit, pay them offline, and share them with up to six family members through Family Sharing.
