Rumours that the next Batman game will be based on the Court of Owls story line have been swirling around the internet for some time and the co-creator of the secret society, Scott Snyder, may have just spoiled the surprise.
Warner Bros games were busy celebrating Batman’s 80th anniversary on Batman day and tweeted a short video of the Batman logo projected on the side of the building. Snyder retweeted the video along with the worlds “Wait for it…” and the hashtag #bewarethecourtofowls.
Obviously he wasn’t meant to do that as the tweet was quickly deleted but that really doesn’t help as people managed to grab screenshots.
Concept art of Batman fighting Talon was posted by an a former Warner Bros. employee earlier this year, and developers from WB Montreal have also posted images of them wearing Court of Owls t-shirts. During an interview on the Humans of Gaming Podcast in October last year, WB Games Montreal Senior Game Designer Osama Dorias confirmed that two games based on DC comics properties were in development.
The video was the first time in four years the WB Montreal Twitter had been active and seems simple at first, but a closer look reveals three images flashing briefly across the screen. One of these is The Demons Head which represents The League of Assassins.
Rumours suggest we’re just hours away from a reveal and the new Batman game will be announced during Sony’s State of Play broadcast tomorrow.
Batman popped up in Fortnite over the weekend and brought Catwoman along for the ride.
