MLB The Show 19 and The Last of Us Remastered have been announced as the October PlayStation Plus games. Sony took everyone by surprise by announcing them in the middle of the State of Play broadcast.
While MLB The Show is last years version the game had decent reviews when it launched and has a Metacritic score of 87. We didn’t review the game but GameInfomer said “Thanks to new avenues of play and smart restructuring decisions, MLB 19 The Show is once again a contender that is worthy of your time both offline and on. Iteration has paid off for this series in a big way, and it’s nice to see Sony taking chances with new ideas again.”
The inclusion of The Last of Us is clearly to generate hype for Part II which will launch February 21st next year. Alex reviewed the original game for TSA, scoring it 10/10. He concluded:
It’s in the game’s storytelling and scripting that the real surprises lay. Joel and Ellie’s story is a sprawling, often desperate struggle for survival against insurmountable odds and a series of increasing bad rolls of the dice, and it’s expertly told.
Blair took a look at the Left Behind DLC, which focuses on Ellie’s story before The Last of Us’ events. He concluded in his review:
Left Behind is the perfect complimentary side-dish for The Last of Us. It’s happier at points, but just as bleak at others, and everything else is pretty much on par with any of the other chapters in the tale. There’s a brilliant approach to the narrative, while Ellie and Riley’s charm shines throughout, their wonder and imagination matching exactly how you’ll feel as you return to this world.
Last month was a very good month with Batman: Arkham Knight and Darksiders III as the free games, if you have not grabbed them yet then you can do so using the links below.

Really? MLB? Is this a thing in the UK?

The only thing worse than a sports game is a baseball game. And the only people not having played TLOU are the ones who will not play it even if you throw it at them. Bad month.

Agree regarding baseball..
Disagree regarding TLOU. I played maybe 1/3 of the game on ps3, then stopped gaming for quite a while, never picked it up on ps4 but was always on my list, so very very happy with that

Lucky you, you’re probably the only one… ;-)

Pleased to see TLOU, I might actually get PS+ if I pick up the new COD. Still undecided about PS4 or PC though…
