“PlayStation Store” now has another meaning in the US, with Sony opening a new online storefront for people to buy PlayStation consoles and accessories directly from the manufacturer. Built into the main PlayStation.com website, it’s appropriately called direct.playstation.com.
Don’t expect the broadest line up of products, though. This is very much all about Sony’s own products, so you’ll have the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation VR, DualShock 4, Platinum Wireless Headset and more, but you won’t find licensed third party controllers or gaming headsets.
And terms of physical games, there’s a curated selection of almost exclusively first party PlayStation 4 games:

PlayStation Direct joins PlayStation Gear in letting you buy things directly from the company. Gear doesn’t concern itself with the actual games, but rather the apparel and branded trinkets associated with Sony, PlayStation and game related merch. You know, like some of the millions of Death Stranding tie in products.
