Control’s environment is weird and wonderful in a lot of places. The Old House can transform from a brutalist architectural design and then within it contain some stunning scenes. Some of them do look like they belong in pictures and the screenshot function may just not be enough. It’s good news then if you’re an intrepid videogame photographer as Remedy as confirmed that Control’s photo mode will be out tomorrow, October 16th, as part of update 1.04.
Control’s Photo Mode will be accessible through the options menu. The mode itself will have two different tabs with one including the kind of options you’d expect for a camera to have such as adjusting the field of view, focus distance, and aperture for the depth of the picture. The second will allow the application of filters or even remove Jesse and other characters from the shot if you just want to take in the environment of The Oldest House itself.
Remedy also confirmed that at the end of the year Expeditions will be released in which Jesse will have to tackle objectives within time limits to get rewards, though each one of the expeditions will have different modifiers. If you haven’t read the Control review you can read my summary below:
Control is one of the best story-focused single player games in years. Its unique mix of surrealism, sci-fi and mystery draws you in, but doesn’t give everything away, and the combat is fantastically varied and provides just enough challenge. A culmination of everything that went before, Control is Remedy’s magnum opus.
