Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York gets a December release date

While we have a while longer to wait for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, another game in the World of Darkness will be coming out rather soon. Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York will arrive for Windows, Linux and MacOS on 4th December this year, with a Switch version planned for Q1 2020 and PS4 and Xbox One a possibility after that.

Coteries of New Work flies from Bloodlines’ Seattle setting to the opposite coast of the United States. Here you find yourself embroiled in a conflict between two factions: the traditionalist Camarilla and the fiercely independent Anarchs. You’re dragged into this as a newly fledged vampire, taken under the wing of an older, scheming vampire and have to learn the ways of the world as a nefarious plot gets underway around you.

Within that setting you meet other vampires, thin-bloods, ghouls, humans and more, with tasks that test your humanity while also trying to sate the blood lust of the Beast inside. Naturally, the choices you make will shape the storylines, and while you start as part of the Camarilla, could see you cross paths and learn from the Anarchs.

A few key mechanics have also been shown off. Hunger indicates the constant need for blood and must be balanced, lest you succumb to the Beast in a terribly unsightly outburst. It contrasts with the Humanity level, a morality system that sees how far you stick to your character’s humanistic principles, and which could offer additional story choices or lock them away. Finally, the Masquerade rating indicates how well you blend in with mortal society, keeping yourself and the vampire community our of sight from the Second Inquisition.

The game is coming from Draw Distance, the indie Polish studio formerly known as iFun4all S.A.. They were the publisher and creator of games like Serial Cleaner, Halls of Horror for Mixer, Ritual: Crown of Horns and more.

This is just one game in an increasingly active Vampires: The Masquerade, and more generally, World of Darkness franchise. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 in development at Hardsuit Labs and published by IP owner Paradox Interactive, an untitled Vampire: The Masquerade RPG from The Council developers Big Bad Wolf and Bigben Interactive, and then there’s Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood, which had another short teaser at PDXCON last weekend.
