Two Point Hospital for consoles delayed until 2020

There’s something going round these parts a moment, isn’t there? Two Point Hospital is the latest game to catch a nasty case of delayitis, with the console release for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch being pushed back to the first half of 2020.

Writing in a blog on the Two Point Studios site, the company explain that it’s a simple case of wanting to ensure the game is as polished as possible. It’s had a positive reaction from press previews and with hands on demos at Gamescom, but it’s still needing a bit of work to get right.

So why the delay? Put simply: making a management simulation game on three consoles (and making it the best it possibly can be on all three), is a tricky programming puzzle. […]

We know you’ll be a bit disappointed by this news, but hopefully you understand why we’re doing it: quality is the most important thing and we want you to have the very best experience.

The game was originally pencilled in for a ‘late 2019’ launch, but these things happen.

Two Point Hospital originally came out for PC in August 2018, immediately gaining a following among the ageing Theme Hospital fanbase. With fun and friendly hospital management and tons of quirky diseases to diagnose and cure, it got the basics spot on, but continued to improve through a number of updates and expansions. Features like the Interior Designer, copy and pasting room layouts and character customisation will all be included in the console releases. Not only that, but so will the snowy Bigfoot and tropical Pebberley Island expansions.

Fingers crossed it’s all worth the wait.
