Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York gameplay trailer released

One of the many World of Darkness games in development, the first gameplay trailer for the narrative focussed Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York has now been released.

Coteries of New York is a narrative game that leans on a Visual Novel art style, but throws in a bunch of other game mechanics, such as quests, hunger, clan disciplines and the passage of time.

As announced back at PDXCON, Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York will arrive for Windows, Linux and MacOS on 4th December this year, with a Switch version planned for Q1 2020 and PS4 and Xbox One a possibility after that.

Coteries of New Work jumps from Bloodlines’ Seattle setting to the opposite coast of the United States. Here you find yourself embroiled in a conflict between two factions: the traditionalist Camarilla and the fiercely independent Anarchs. You’re dragged into this as a newly fledged vampire, taken under the wing of an older, scheming vampire and have to learn the ways of the world as a nefarious plot gets underway around you.

Within that setting you meet other vampires, thin-bloods, ghouls, humans and more, with tasks that test your humanity while also trying to sate the blood lust of the Beast inside. Naturally, the choices you make will shape the storylines, and while you start as part of the Camarilla, could see you cross paths and learn from the Anarchs.

The game is coming from Draw Distance, the indie Polish studio formerly known as iFun4all S.A.. They were the publisher and creator of games like Serial Cleaner, Halls of Horror for Mixer, Ritual: Crown of Horns and more.

This is just one game in an increasingly active Vampires: The Masquerade, and more generally, World of Darkness franchise. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 in development at Hardsuit Labs and published by IP owner Paradox Interactive, an untitled Vampire: The Masquerade RPG from The Council developers Big Bad Wolf and Bigben Interactive, and then there’s Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood, which had another short teaser at PDXCON earlier this month.
