Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed until September

CD Projekt RED has announced that it is delaying Cyberpunk 2077 from its initial release date of April 16th. People should now expect the game to be released on September 17th. CD Projekt RED has stated the game is complete and playable but due to the sheer size of Night City more testing, fixing, and polishing of the assets needs to be done before it is ready to be released. In the statement, the studio heads Marcin Iwinski and Adam Badowski state they want Cyberpunk 2077 to be the “crowning achievement” of this generation from the studio.

Miguel had a look at Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 2019 and wrote:

The demo soon ends with our protagonist encountering the leader of the Voodoo Boys, who tasks V with diving into the cyberspace in order to track down the truth behind the chip in their head. Much like Cyberpunk 2077, we don’t know a whole lot about cyberspace, but it sure is pretty. Pretty isn’t the only thing that matters in a game, though, especially not a game of this scope. CD Project Red has promised a lot with this title, but between the two demos I’ve seen of it so far, it’s shaping up to be a kind of cool open-world shooter with some light RPG elements. Keanu Reeves is certainly breathtaking, but it’s hard to say the same about Cyberpunk 2077.

The delay also adds to the speculation that Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X as it will be close to those consoles release windows. Cyberpunk 2077 joins Final Fantasy VII Remake and Marvel’s Avengers as the latest titles to be hit by delays.

  1. Ahhhhh well was bound to happen as someone frigging mentioned it on twitter. Gah!
Well Resident Evil 3 and Predator Hunting Grounds for me then.

  2. Or is it to be released alongside the PS5?

    • I was quick to post. Having finished the article, I clearly align with the speculation.
