What We Played #435 – Patapon 2 Remastered, Judgment & Kentucky Route Zero

It’s been a lovely old week of playing games, and it’s felt like a genuinely fresh start to the year round here, even though alongside the entirely new Journey to the Savage Planet I’ve also been indulging in Patapon 2 Remastered and continuing to plug away at Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. I know I’ve been late to the party on that one, but it is exceptionally good, giving my previous favourite Black Flag a run for its doubloons.

Aran delved into Stories Untold for review this week, saying “It’s a very good compilation of horror/thriller stories.” He also spent more time with Mass Effect Andromeda and started the intriguing Kentucky Route Zero.

Jason managed to find some time in his ridiculous schedule to boot up Hades and apparently that’s all he wants to play forever. Which would be fine if he wasn’t, you know, a games journalist. However, he also played Skellboy which was “aggressively mediocre” and Bookbound Brigade “which was worse”. On the plus side, he’s also lost a lot of time to Legends of Runeterra.

Nick P is deep into Judgment. “Really enjoying my time in Kamurocho getting distracted by the abundance of mini games and silly side missions on offer. I’ve been ticking off each food place on the list by eating every item on the menu and doing each owner’s personal requests when I can. It’s definitely one of the best games released last year!”

By contrast, Tuffcub has been playing Google Analytics with the site, saying “It’s addictive” as he watches you come and read news stories and features – creepy, right? He also finished a raid in Destiny 2 which was “totes fun”, and finally got his PSVR back from the friend he loaned it to about six months ago. He seems to be enjoying it as his next input was that “BEAT SABRE IS AWESOME!!!” though Astro Bot Rescue Mission isn’t quite as good as everyone said.

Meanwhile, Steve polished off Bookbound Brigade for review, which he liked a bit more than Jason, even if the flaws did eventually overshadow his enjoyment. He’s also managed a playthrough of Steamworld Dig on Vita and started Starlink which he picked up cheap in the sales: “it’s totally not what I expected (in a good way). I thought it was going to be more Starfox, but instead there is a really immersive sense of exploration and some beautiful planets to faff around on!”

Finally, Tef has been playing more Zombie Army 4 for our review next week, while keeping his brain well and truly trained with a daily dose of Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training for Nintendo Switch.

How’s about you then? What have you played?

  1. PS3 again for me and this time more Lego xD Lego Batman 3 Beyond Gotham. Completed the story yesterday and this weekend is mopping up and getting all collectibles and characters for another easy platinum xD

  2. Just when i thought SotTR was picking up and becoming the game i wanted it to be, i reached the end. Well, the part where it tells you you can’t fast travel if you continue. Damn, the game had a few sections i really enjoyed playing through but i only discovered two tombs so far. Not sure if i’ll go back or just plough ahead.
While pondering that weighty decision, i’ve played some more Alienation, jumped back into Rollers of the Realm which i hadn’t played for a couple of years and managed to unlock a new area. And i’ve survived my first night in Ark Survival after getting killed by a few creatures on my first attempts. And berries don’t go very far so i need some real food, luckily the Dodo on this island aren’t extinct .. yet!

  3. I wanted to continue working on my backlog this week, so I started up Dishonored on my PS3. The game has a promising beginning, as they seem to have made an effort to put a meaningful story in. But still, I didn’t get very far, as I suddenly couldn’t stop myself binge watching the 4th season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which is stunning. And I even ended up adding to my backlog, as I got The Division 2 and ancient VR Worlds, which both together were only 10 quid in a sale.
