The Wonderful 101: Remastered Kickstarter posted by PlatinumGames

Earlier today, PlatinumGames launched a teaser site called Four and there was a lot of speculation about what it could be leading to. Those who guessed it would be four separate products from the developer are right and the first one has been revealed. That first reveal is a The Wonderful 101: Remastered Kickstarter campaign. PlatinumGames is looking to raise funds to bring the Wii U exclusive to the Switch, Steam and PS4. The stretch goals for each of these is $50,000, $250,000, and $500,000 respectively.

PlatinumGames is aiming to release the game both digitally and physically. There are additional backer rewards which would include comics, vinyl records, and jackets but you’ll have to put down quite a lot of money to get those. The highest tier would set you back approximately $5,000. As of writing the Kickstarter goal was $50,010 and that has already been beaten so the Switch version is guaranteed.

The Wonderful 101 is a really great title that is quite unique in its direction. While the first half of the game really struggles, it picks up the pace (and scale) as it continues, with the brilliant characters – as if they’re action figures but don’t quite know that – paving a path of destruction in their defence against the Geathjerk.

It’s a great start for what could hopefully become Nintendo’s next big IP. Let’s hope, as with Mario and Zelda before it, we’ll see The Wonderful 101 return on each of Nintendo’s platforms for at least the next twenty years.
