Stadia will be available on Samsung, Razer, and ASUS phones soon

Google’s Stadia is a bit of a weird place. There has been a slow drip of news for the service which launched a few months ago with its Pro subscription. At the time those who were interested needed to buy a Premiere Edition for £119 which included a Google Chromecast Ultra and a Stadia Pro Controller. Those subs came with a sub to the Pro subscription but those are going to expire soon and there is yet no news on when the free version will be launched.

Today, Google did make an announcement to confirm which Android phones Stadia will work on from February 20th. As of now, the Stadia app is only supported on Google Pixel phones. The full list of phones that will be compatible can be found below.

  • Samsung Galaxy S8
  • Samsung Galaxy S8+
  • Samsung Galaxy S8 Active
  • Samsung Galaxy Note8
  • Samsung Galaxy S9
  • Samsung Galaxy S9+
  • Samsung Galaxy Note9
  • Samsung Galaxy S10
  • Samsung Galaxy S10E
  • Samsung Galaxy S10+
  • Samsung Galaxy Note10
  • Samsung Galaxy Note10+
  • Samsung Galaxy S20
  • Samsung Galaxy S20+
  • Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra
  • Razer Phone
  • Razer Phone 2
  • ASUS ROG Phone
  • ASUS ROG Phone II

Of course, that will just be the start as there are Android supporting brands missing from the list including Xiaomi, OPPO, Sony, Honor, LG, and HTC. We don’t know how long it will take to roll out support for such brands nor do we know when the Basic version of Stadia will be available. However, this is some news for Stadia owners.

Stadia is a wonderful streaming tech demo that gives us an idea of the patch-free, download-free future we could be living in, but little more. For anyone beyond those who simply must try out the newest piece of technology, it’s probably worth waiting for 2020 to really see how Google’s vision of our gaming future pans out.
