Kazunori Yamauchi has been speaking to various media outlets to discuss what is next for the Gran Turismo. He has not discussed a new game though it is all but likely we’ll see a new Gran Turismo at some point in the PS5’s life cycle. After all, Gran Turismo is one of the PlayStation’s longest-running exclusive series. While a resolution bump is something that many people will be looking to on the next generation it is not the priority for Kazunori Yamauchi. Instead, frames per second is what is taking that priority.
Here is what he had to say:
“I think, display resolution-wise, 4K resolution is enough. Rather than a spatial resolution that you’re talking about, I’m more interested in the advancements we can make in terms of the time resolution. In terms of frames per second, rather than staying at 60 fps, I’m more interested in raising it to 120 fps or even 240 fps. I think that’s what’s going to be changing the experience from here on forward.”
240 fps would be something to see but whether that is a target that games will hit on PS5 is something we will have to wait on. 60 fps will likely be the standard with 120fps also being something to look at. 240 fps is something that developers may look at but it may just be a few games that would support such a frame rate. Whether Gran Turismo will be one of those is something that again will be something we have to wait to see.
