The Borderlands movie may not be dead it seems. The last we heard anything substantial about it was all the way back in 2016 when Randy Pitchford confirmed a deal had been signed with Lionsgate and Arad Productions to create a film based on the hyper-violent series. Since then nothing. However, Randy Pitchford confirmed some big news for it by stating the Eli Roth had come on board to direct. The tweet Randy put out was quickly deleted as it seems he went a bit too early with the announcement, but now he has put out the tweet again.
I’m very excited to welcome Eli Roth as Director of the Borderlands movie in development with Lionsgate and Arad Productions. Please welcome @EliRoth to the team and be sure to catch the @GearboxOfficial Main Theater Show at #PAXEast on 2/27 to learn more. #borderlandsmovie pic.twitter.com/Uaxs7jm10i

As the tweet states we’ll find out more about the Borderlands movie at PAX East on February 27th. Also during this event Gearbox will be sharing details about the next story DLC pack that is going to be released for Borderlands 3.
In our review for Borderlands 3, Jason wrote:
I’ve got very mixed feelings about Borderlands 3. Overall I like it and it’s fun to play, but it could have been so much more and the writing feels like time traveling back to your high school days and being surprised and a little disappointed at how immature everyone is. Few things in life are as embarrassing as the person you were five years ago. If you’re not embarrassed, then I’m sorry to say that you may well be the Borderlands 3 of your friend group; stuck in the past unable to grow or change in any meaningful way, relying on fart jokes as a stand-in for your personality.
