Kerbal Space Program 2 is expected to release at some point this year, and as that nears a new feature series is being released by the developers. This first video looks at the next-gen technology Kerbal Space Program 2 that will be available in the game, with the technology being based upon experiments that were carried out in the past as well as breakthroughs in science today. All of this technology will come to the game to show a game where the Kerbals are flying all around Space.
Here’s a blurb for the video:
[…] the development team goes in-depth on a number of the new engines that players will be able to utilize in KSP 2 including the nuclear pulse propulsion engine, metallic hydrogen engine, and more. This video is the first in a series of feature videos that will deep dive on the key new features of KSP 2 and the development process behind them.
In the video Private Division states that colonies are needed because some of the technology and fuels have to be synthesized at these colonies. The explosions are also being updated in Kerbal Space Program 2 with the system taking into account the fuel type, where the fuel is, what part of the ship has exploded, and a little bit of randomness to make all explosions unique. In terms of engines once you have explored the system a whole range of interstellar engines can be created to reach very high speeds, and these engines can run for months or years. Then way late in the game comes the torch ship engine which is described in the video as “The Holy Grail, it is a torch that you ride screaming white death.”
Kerbal Space Program 2 will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC at some point this year.
