Get an overview of SnowRunner’s frigid off-road experience in the latest trailer

Following up their cult hit MudRunner, Saber Interactive are taking players to the snowy wilds with the appropriately titled SnowRunner. Whether you know the first game or not, Saber have got you covered with an overview trailer that will give you everything you need to know.

Coming out next month for PS4, Xbox One and PC on 28th April, the game features three regions with eleven sandbox maps to explore, which adds up to more than three times the square mileage of the original MudRunner. They’re interconnected, so missions can run between them, throwing up all sorts of challenges along the way.

The game will lean on the same classic mechanics as a niche driving simulator. You’ll have to master snowbanks, ice, rivers and (of course) mud, in an array of different trucks, always struggling for grip. A wide variety of missions are included, all of which can be played on your own or in four player co-op multiplayer. It’s got all the ingredients that made the first such a hit on Twitch.

On PC, there’s also mod support on day one, thanks to a partnership with – the game is out on Epic Games Store, as opposed to Steam – but all platforms will benefit after launch from a season pass that will add new vehicles, maps, activities and more in a string of major content drops.

In our review for the original Spintires: MudRunner, Dom wrote:

Spintires: MudRunner is utterly unique, and as a driving simulator of a niche field it is basically unparalleled. However, the difficulty level and lack of pace are likely going to make it a very niche game, while the camera is an extra challenge in itself. Still, there’s grit, determination, freedom and reward to be found here for those ready to wade in.
