Hot on the heels of yesterday’s update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons comes update 1.1.3, hotfixing another smattering of niggly little bugs and issues with the game.
Where yesterday’s update helped resolve some troublesome issues with animals not being able to move from a friend’s island to yours – at the cost of the invited animal disappearing into the aether – and some other land management issues, Today’s update switches from the ground to the sky, fixing an issue where balloons weren’t flying.

The single patch note translated from the Japanese support page reads:
- Fixed a bug where balloons would not fly under certain conditions.
With the Easter themed Bunny Day event well underway, there are balloons flying almost incessantly over most players islands, whether they’re the regular gift balloons or Bunny Day balloons that include “sky eggs” and seasonal DIY recipes. It gets a bit much, to be honest, and you can barely escape the sound of wooshing wind as they approach from all angles.
Still, not going to complain too much when it helps you race toward the 300 balloon Nook Miles achievement.
To check you’re up to date, you will see “Ver. 1.1.3” or “Ver. 1.1.3a” in the upper-right corner of the title screen. Version 1.1.3a signifies that you’ve connected to the servers and enabled the Bunny Day event.
This latest Animal Crossing is a wonderful way to get away from it all – unless you have a deathly fear of balloons. In our 9/10 review I said:
“Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the perfect island escape, drawing you in to play day after day. All of the charms of the series’ previous games are here, but with gorgeous new graphics, DIY crafting and the eventual ability to remodel your island, you can really create the island settlement of your dreams.”
