Assassin’s Creed Valhalla confirmed by Ubisoft, full reveal tomorrow

UPDATE 2: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has been confirmed by Ubisoft but details are light on the ground for now. What we can surmise is that players will indeed be playing as a Viking and it does look like players will be traversing between Scandinavia and England, which will bring clashes with the Saxons. The cinematic reveal of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be happening tomorrow and we will have all of the details here.

UPDATE: Here’s a look at the art so far. It seems to show two scenes, the one on the right we think could be Celtic Britain with Roman invaders, and to the left there is a snowy wasteland. Perhaps the rumours were half right, there are Vikings but we’re not always going to be in the land of the Norse, you might be playing a Viking invader in Britain.

Here’s more from History.org.uk about that period of history.

Romans, Anglo-Saxons and Vikings’ is the longest British period in the primary history curriculum, lasting a thousand years – a millennium. It is also the most formative period in British history, when the country experienced several waves of invasion, including the last invasion to have been successful, in 1066. It both begins and ends with an invasion: the first Roman invasion in 55 BC and the Norman invasion of William the Conqueror in 1066. Add ‘in between were the Anglo-Saxons and then the Vikings’.

There is overlap between the various invaders, and through it all, the Celtic British population remained largely in place. In some areas, such as Wales and Cornwall, the invaders hardly changed the language or way of life of the people. In others, the British Celts learnt the language of the invaders, and adapted to their way of life. After 400 years of Roman rule, Romanised Britons tried to defend the religion and civilisation of Roman Britain against the Anglo-Saxon invaders.

It’s happening! Ubisoft is lifting the lid on the next setting for Assassin’s Creed right now and they are doing it in a way reminiscent of how they did the Far Cry Primal reveal, though the artwork here has not been finalised. Instead, the developer is creating the artwork on Twitter to give clues as to where the next game will be. Are we going Vikings or is Ubisoft planning to go somewhere completely different?

Assassin’s Creed Ragnorak is the rumoured title with claims that players will be a Viking who travels between Scandinavia and the British Isles, but others stated that the game would be Assassin’s Creed Kingdom. The latest leak said the following but if was rehashing old information.

Assassin’s Creed ‘Ragnarok’, the next Assassin’s Creed game which totally isn’t called Ragnarok but everyone is calling it that until we know the real name of the game, has been blessed with a new leak. The tipster has unveiled the following ‘facts’.

  • It’s got Vikings in it.
  • It’s not called Ragnarok.
  • You will be able to play as a man or a woman.
  • It’s got the hidden blade mechanic.

Leaks regarding the next Assassin’s Creed are incorrect, according to industry insider Daniel Ahmed aka ZhugeEX who is usually very good with his information. Posting on Resetera Daniel wrote that every leak regarding Ubisoft’s next entry to the series is incorrect, including that the name will not be Raganarok. He’s full post is below.

For what it’s worth. All of the new AC leaks so far have been incorrect. It’s not even called Ragnarok.

Sure. Some of the details are right. Like improved combat or whatever. But in general they’re not that accurate.

We will find out soon enough.

  1. Black Flag was a PS4 launch title I think. Wonder if this will be a PS5 launch title?

    • Black Flag was a PS4 launch title, but the game itself launched on PS3 a couple of weeks earlier.

My guess would be a PS4 version for Valhalla, and a PS5 update whenever the PS5 launches. But not an actual PS5 version, so not taking advantage of being able to load stupidly fast. Which would be nice if the map is as big as the last one.

Maybe they’ll do the Rogue/Unity thing after that. PS4 gets a sort of spin off thing from Valhalla, and the PS5 gets a whole new game where people’s faces fall off. ;) And then the spin off gets remastered for the PS5 a few years later.
