Port Royale 4 will be setting sail this September on PC and consoles, closed beta launched

Kalypso Media and Gaming Minds Studios has revealed that the trading simulation title Port Royale 4 will be released for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch on September 25th. Along with this announcement the publisher has also confirmed that the closed beta is now available for those who pre-purchase the Port Royale 4 through the Kalypso Store. The beta will give players access to the tutorial, the Spanish campaign mode, and free mode which will only let players play as the Spanish faction. The naval battles in Port Royale 4 will be turn based and allow for eight ships to battle each other at once. Players will need to create supply chains in the Caribbean and chart courses across the sea that avoids weather issues such as storms, and shallow waters that could leave ships stuck. Players will be able to engage in battles with rival factions and pirates, as well as complete contracts to advance their factions.

In Port Royale 4 players will be able to:

  • Choose to play as Spain, England, France, or the Netherlands.
  • Appoint a leader from one of four classes: The Explorer, The Merchant, The Buccaneer, and The Pirate.
  • Establish trade routes with 60 cities across the Caribbean
  • Construct 50 different buildings including production sites that produce rum, and neighbourhood buildings that improve morale and increase production
  • Choose from 18 different ship types from the 16th and 17th centuries
  • Unlock buildings and ships by  increasing the faction’s reputation

There are two versions of Port Royale 4 available for sale. The standard version contains the game while the extended edition adds a digital soundtrack and in game content.

  1. Hopefully there will be an open beta at some point, it looks good but not enough for me to preorder.
