Yakuza: Like A Dragon launching later this year for Xbox Series X, PS4, Xbox One, and PC

SEGA has confirmed that the next Yakuza title Yakuza: Like A Dragon will be releasing later this year for Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, and PS4. SEGA also confirmed that Yakuza: Like A Dragon will be a Smart Delivery title so those who purchase it on Xbox One will get the Xbox Series X version, and vice versa. To mark the news SEGA debuted a new story trailer during the Inside Xbox showcase and it is as bonkers as you would expect from a Yakuza game.

Yakuza: Like A Dragon is a new beginning for the Yakuza franchise as it leaves behind series stalwart Kiryu Kazama and replaces him with a brand new protagonist who is named Ichiban Kasuga. He is a low-level Yakuza from a smaller family and his story is that he was sent to prison for 18 years for a crime he did not commit to protect his patriarch. The story picks up after Ichiban leaves prison and finds that everything has changed including the family he left behind which is now being hunted down.

Yakuza: Like A Dragon has also been changed from a straight up brawler to more of an RPG experience. This decision is rooted in the story as Ichiban is an RPG fan so he imagines all of his fights as turn-based battles. In addition to this change, characters will now have jobs but not ones like warrior or mage. Instead, these jobs include musician and bodyguard among 17 others, and each one grants different abilities. The setting has also changed to Yokohama where players will have a number of new things to explore and new minigames to play. Minigames like karaoke and the SEGA Arcade have been retained as well as the substories, of which there are over 50 in total. More information about Yakuza: Like A Dragon will be released soon.
