Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls & Detroit: Become Human coming to Steam next month

Quantic Dreams’ trio of former PlayStation exclusives are coming to Steam next month, the company has revealed. Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls and Detroit: Become Human will all be out on Valve’s storefront on 18th June.

The Steam release of these three games comes after initial PC releases on the Epic Games Store, staggered through last year. Heavy Rain arrived first on June 24th, followed by Beyond Two Souls on 22nd July, with Detroit: Become Human then following on December 12th.

After over a decade attached at the hip to Sony and the PlayStation brand as a second party developer, Quantic Dreams have decided to work as a multi-platform developer once more, self-publishing their previous titles on PC. However, they will be going further than that in future, as the company announced their intention to self-publish their games going forward and go fully independent.

As they celebrated their 23rd year in business, they explained the advantages that they feel this could offer them:

This new venture will allow us to make decisions in total independence, and to address the technological and strategic opportunities of next-generation platforms. It will also allow us to help other developers, by providing investment and development support, so that they can fully express their talents. We want to support creators of original projects and help them, in turn, to achieve their vision and offer quality, ground-breaking experiences.

Earlier this month, they kicked off a new video series diving into their approach to narrative adventures, which could possibly be starting a build up to the reveal of their next project. Quantic Dreams have always tried to push the boundaries of the medium, often creating demos to demonstrate the capabilities of the latest two generations of PlayStation console, and they could be preparing something similar for the next generation, targeting the playStation 5 and Xbox Series X, while no doubt looking to evolve their unique brand of storytelling by leaning on new hardware.

For now, though, PC gamers will be able to pick up Quantic’s back catalogue on a storefront of their choice.
