Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One announced for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X, and current gen

Frogwares has announced the next Sherlock Holmes title it is working on and the game is called Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One. The developer confirmed that Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One will be released for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and the next generation of consoles at some point in 2021. This new game will be a prequel to the rest of the Sherlock Holmes games developed by Frogwares, and will star a much younger Sherlock Holmes who is barely an adult himself before he begins this investigation.

The description for Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One reads:

In this story-driven detective thriller, a young Sherlock Holmes struggles to prove himself as he navigates an exotic, dangerous island in the Mediterranean to investigate the mystery of his mother’s death.

Speaking to Gamespot, Frogwares Producer Sergey Oganesyan said:

What we want to do with Chapter One is that we want to explore this other side of the character, and how he became the great detective that we know. Our version of Sherlock is not a traditional character. He has this raw talent [for discovering the truth] that’s sort of untamed. He’s more arrogant, and much more volatile in this game compared to [other] versions. He has more fun playing with the truth, and he has no problem lying to somebody to get to the bottom of his investigation. But at the same time, he is still young. He will experience some of the things that a young man, 21 years of age, may not be ready to process in this game. This will have certain consequences on his character. Our goal is to show the events that will shape Sherlock as a great detective.”

It seems Frogwares is ready to move on from the issues it had with Focus Home Interactive when the publisher removed Sherlock Holmes titles from storefronts over an expired agreement. Frogwares has since worked to get the titles back on stores itself, and will self publish all of its titles in future.
