Paradox Interactive opens new studio in Barcelona called Paradox Tinto

Paradox Interactive has announced an expansion to its operations by opening a brand new studio in Barcelona, and that studio has been named Paradox Tinto. This new studio will focus exclusively on the company’s grand strategy games, and will be headed by Johan Andersson. Johan is one of the main people behind the creation of the Europa Universalis franchise, and has been with Paradox for over 25 years. Paradox Tinto will work on the ongoing development of Europa Universalis IV before creating new games.

Speaking about the new studio Johan said:

“I am excited and grateful for this opportunity to build up a new studio in a new location, putting the knowledge accumulated through the decades of building games and development studios into good use. My goal is to assemble a team and create a fully functional studio to keep on developing the Europa Universalis brand, and later design and develop new grand strategy games.”

Charlotta Nilsson, Chief Operations Officer at Paradox Interactive, commented on the formation of Paradox Tinto too saying:

“People love our games and we love the fact that we are growing to create more for them, we’re particularly pleased to expand for the first time with a new studio focusing on the core game genre we’re famous for: grand strategy. The success of our studios over the last few years has allowed us to continually add more capabilities and new ideas, with more games going into active development and more ambitious plans every day. We currently have around 70 open positions across our seven studios, with plans to recruit roughly 200 people in 2020 alone.”

Paradox Interactive’s next big title will be Crusader Kings III which will be released in September. The company is also taking part in the Guerrilla Collective conference this weekend where more announcements are likely.
