Dovetail Games’ latest fishing sport simulator, The Catch: Carp & Coarse is being reeled in for release later this month. It will be out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on 30th June.
Coming from the makers of Euro Fishing and Fishing Sim World, Dovetail are making their fishing simulator both broader and more in depth. There’s new gameplay, new fishing styles, advanced elements like water flow and an improved fish fighting experience to deal with. There’s 36 species of fish to catch across five world locations, with a mixture of different fishing techniques required to catch them. including Static fishing, Float fishing and Lure fishing, and the need to learn their habits and what types of lures they will be drawn to.
However, perhaps the headline feature are the new Boss Fish that are featured throughout the game. There’s 25 of these per location, for a total of 125, each with different personalities to their base species, making them a unique challenge to try and find, learn about and catch. They’ve also go great names like Barrie, Little Hog and… Andy.
The game will sport both single player and multiplayer game modes. The basic Fishing Trip mode comes without time pressures, while there will be 30 single player events, which are timed tournaments going up against big names from the European circuit.
Beside that, online multiplayer will allow for up to four players on console and eight on PC, with the session host getting to decide if it’s a relaxed lobby or has time limits for a tournament vibe. The Dovetail Fishing League will run on a monthly basis, an asynchronous online mode where the top fishers in the game will be celebrated.
The game is out at the end of this month, coming with a rather bitesized price of £19.99 / €24.99. Will you give it a little nibble?
