SnowRunner adds a free new environment in The Rift update

Saber Interactive and Focus Home Interactive have announced a new free update to SnowRunner which adds a fourth environment to the Russian region of Taymyr, bringing the number of maps available in the base game to twelve. The update is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC and further free updates will follow adding “new missions, skins, advanced modding tools for creating environments and interior customization objects, vehicle add-ons and more.”

Ahead of Phase 1 of SnowRunner’s post-launch content they have also announced the game now has over one million players.

Season 1: Search & Recover adds new vehicles and a new region, the Kola Peninsula in Russia and will be available separately or as part of the Season pass.

SnowRunner guide – 9 beginners tips to get you started

We gave SnowRunner a massive 9/10 in our review, saying “SnowRunner is a game thoroughly, single-mindedly, in love with the open road. It just happens that it’s the kind of love that’s bred by getting that road so thoroughly under your nails, you occasionally have to wonder whether it’s actually hate. Care, attention and time will show that SnowRunner is a passion project worth putting the extra mile in for.”

The terrain trucking sequel already has a slew of available mods you can access via SnowRunner’s mod.io page – these include an array of cool and bizarre vehicles as well as advanced gameplay features and tweaks allowing you further customise your experience.

Accessing mods is made simple thanks to mod.io. You’ll need to boot up SnowRunner and click on the mods section of the main menu where you can toggle any of the mods you’ve subscribed to via mod.io. You’ll need an account for the website in order to do so, of course.

Saber Interactive announced that they will be expanding their modding tools, allowing users to create even more content such as maps and interiors. They have yet to explain how modding will work on consoles though hopefully we’ll be hearing more about this feature soon.
