EGX 2020 has been cancelled, replaced with digital event

In news that will surprise no one, this year’s EGX event that was meant to occur this September has been cancelled and will be replaced with an online event. Here is a statement from EGX.

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the cancellation of EGX 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We love our flagship event, and this wasn’t a decision that was taken lightly. Given the current climate, we just wouldn’t have been able to put on the awesome show our fans expect from us.

Thank you to our fans for your support and for bearing with us during this challenging time, and to everyone who had worked really hard to try and make EGX 2020 happen. We’re sorry we won’t be able to see you in person at our show like we had hoped, but we are already planning for the epic return on EGX in 2021.

We want to continue to provide you with your gaming fix, so later this year we’ll be joining forces with PAX Online to bring you an around the clock, 24/9 (like 24/7, but better) digital event from 12th – 20th September. This huge online show will celebrate the very best in gaming from across the globe and will host some of your favourite EGX features, including playable games, Let’s Play content, and Meet and Greets.

EGX Rezzed, which was meant to occur in a couple of week’s time, has also been cancelled. EGX was one of the last gaming events holding out hope for going ahead, Sony, Microsft, EA and others have moved all their events online until next year.

If you have a ticket for the event then you should get a refund automatically.

All refunds will be processed automatically. Customers should receive a refund on the card that they used to pay for their tickets. If you do not receive this by the end of July, then please contact our customer service team and they will be happy to help with this.
