Monster Hunter movie release has been delayed until April 2021

It has been almost four years since the Monster Hunter movie was announced. The movie is being directed by Paul W. S. Anderson directing and writing with  Milla Jovovich starring , seeing the husband and wife duo reunite following the Resident Evil movies.  The Monster Hunter movie was scheduled to be released this September, but now that has been delayed until April 23rd, 2021 confirmed Sony and Screen Gems.

The official synopsis of the Monster Hunter movie reads:

Behind our world, there is another — a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When Lt. Artemis and her loyal soldiers are transported from our world to the new world, the unflappable lieutenant receives the shock of her life. In her desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers and unstoppable, terrifying attacks, Artemis will team up with a mysterious man who has found a way to fight back.

Tony Jaa, T.I., Ron Perlman, Meagan Good and Diego Boneta also star in the film which has been filmed in Cape Town and South Africa with a rumoured budget of around $60 million. Paul W. S. Anderson has said that the armour and weapons that the Hunters will wear are based on the equipment from the game series and that one of the characters will have a mis-matched set, to represent the customisation options players have within the game. Jovovich has also posted an image of a ‘slinger’ on her arm to assure fans they are keeping close to the game.
