Netflix Dragon’s Dogma anime series will be released in September

Netflix and Capcom have continued their partnership to adapt some of the game company’s properties into shows for the streaming service. Castlevania has been a big hit for three seasons with a fourth one confirmed to be on the way, and now it has been confirmed that the Dragon’s Dogma anime will premiere on Netflix from September 17th. The announcement came via the official NX account and it shows the first look at the series through some artwork. You can check that out below. The announcement of the Dragon’s Dogma anime was first made back in March 2019.

The synopsis of the show says:

“Based on a world-famous action RPG set in an open world, Dragon’s Dogma from Capcom will be brought to life as a Netflix original anime series. The story follows a man’s journey seeking revenge on a dragon who stole his heart. On his way, the man is brought back to life as an ‘Arisen’. An action adventure about a man challenged by demons who represent the seven deadly sins of humans.”

Way back in 2012 we reviewed the original release of Dragon’s Dogma, and in the review Dan wrote:

“Dragon’s Dogma feels like the start of something big. It thrills and frustrates in equal measure, and whilst it’s not up to the level of those at the top of this genre, one can’t help but wonder what a Dragon’s Dogma 2 could be like if Capcom act on all the lessons learned from this game. An exciting thought indeed.”

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen was re-released for PS4 and Xbox One in 2017, and then was released on Nintendo Switch last year.
