Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II’s latest dev diary looks at the Icelandic setting

Ninja Theory has released a brand new developer diary in its Dreadnought Diaries series, and this video looks at where Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will be taking place. Ninja Theory confirmed that this time around players will be guiding Senua around Iceland, with its harsh landscape being a fit for the kind of atmosphere players will face in the sequel to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. The video shows some of the locations that have been scouted by Ninja Theory which will be used in Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II.

Ninja Theory was bought by Microsoft in 2018 and it is likely that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will be an Xbox Series X console exclusive as well as releasing on PC. We do know that this sequel will be running in Unreal Engine 5. The original game first released on PS4 before launching across other platforms, but with the acquisition it is unlikely Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will be available on PS5. Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was a hit and it was praised for exploring mental health issues. In our review, Dave wrote:

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is a profound sensual experience that’s unmissable. The way it highlights psychosis and incorporates it isn’t just a part of the aesthetic, but it also makes for fascinating gameplay. This is a phenomenal achievement for the discussion of mental health that we’ll be talking about for years to come.
