Bandai Namco have dropped a new trailer for Little Nightmares II during the Gamescom Opening Night 2020 presentation. It looks creepy as hell with a scary teacher who’s head rotates Exorcist style, and later on we see her with her neck extending like a snake.
There’s also something blobby creeping round on the ceiling and some random violence with china dolls being smashed to bits.
Little Nightmares II is a suspense-adventure game in which you play as Mono, a young boy trapped in a world that has been distorted by the humming transmission of a distant tower. With Six, the girl in a yellow raincoat, as his guide, Mono sets out to discover the dark secrets of The Signal Tower and save Six from her terrible fate; but their journey will not be straightforward as Mono and Six will face a gallery of new threats from the terrible residents of this world.
Little Nightmares II to be released on 11th February 2021 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch. There is no mention of next gen but the copyright notices at the end of the trailer do mention PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X so it’s almost certainly coming to next gen platforms.
When Little Nightmares was released back in 2017 Tuffcub wrote in the review:
Little Nightmares is something of a minor classic. Gorgeously gross and surprisingly inventive, it creates a genuine feeling of terror and tension. It’s a bit odd to say a game that involves skipping over corpses is enjoyable, but it is, just don’t blame Tarsier if you have nightmares.
A TV show based on Little Nightmares is also supposed to be in production but things seem to have gone quiet on that front. The signs were this could be good as Anthony and Joe Russo, aka The Russo Brothers, the chaps behind Captain America: Civil War are developing the project with Nightmare Before Christmas director Henry Selick on board to direct the pilot, and possibly other episodes. DJ2 Entertainment, who are also adapting Sonic the Hedgehog and Life is Strange, are also part of the team.
The game left a lot of questions unanswered, such as how Six got there and what exactly the Maw is, and there is a rather interesting twist at the end which could be woven throughout the series.
No date or platform has been announced but this does sound like it could go to Amazon or Netflix.
