Activision and Raven Software have given us our first proper look at Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War running on PS5.
While it’s easy to get hung up on exclusives and those newly announced games being shown at the PlayStation 5 showcase, there’s a glut of cross-gen games on the way, Cold War being one of them.
The footage shown during Sony’s showcase dives into mission from the sequel’s singleplayer campaign as we follow familiar Black Ops characters Mason and Woods as they infiltrate a Turkish airbase during the height of the Cold War.
Looking to secure a target named Arash we watch the squad approach the military compound with plenty of dynamic lightning and weather effects at play. The detail here is incredible with a Sniper Elite-esque bullet cam elegantly showing off a well-placed headshot by the player. Compared to last year’s Modern Warfare the difference isn’t night and day in terms of visuals though the action in Cold War looks as smooth and bombastic as its ever been.
We’re treated to even more gameplay with plenty of trademark set piece moments. One nice touch fans will pick up is the new human shield feature allowing you to grab hold of enemies and use them to soak up incoming fire.
