Two new Monster Hunter game is on the way for Nintendo Switch owners, with Capcom revealing Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin.
Monster Hunter Rise is set 50 years on from the last monster-filled calamity in the world, and you now have to venture forth once more to do battle in order to save Kamura Village. Monsters revealed include Aknosom, Tetranadon, Great Izuchi and the brand new monster Magnamalo that is the game’s flagship beastie.
Expect plenty of Monster hunting action and four player co-op through the game, but it’s described as “a brand new take”, with new elements like the Wirebug hunting tool, so you can zip around the sky like you’re in a bad Spider-Man game, and the ability to enlist Palicoes, as well as the new hunting partners Palamutes and rideable Canyne. You’ll be able to have both Palamute and Palico alongside when playing solo, but can only pick one if you’re in multiplayer.
Monster Hunter Rise will be out on 26th March 2021.
If you’re a bit of a MH head, then you’ll likely be tempted by the special Digital Deluxe Edition or physical Collector’s Edition of Monster Hunter Rise. The digital Deluxe Edition nets you some bonus in-game content such as a “Kamurai” full layered armor set, exclusive gestures, and cosmetic items, while the Collector’s Editionwill contain everything from the Deluxe Edition, in addition to physical items including a monster icon sticker pack, Kamura mark enamel pin and an amiibo figure of Magnamalo, the flagship monster featured in the game.
Alongside that is Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. With anime graphics and a bigger focus on narrative, it follows in the footsteps of the first Stories game with its RPG gameplay. You take the role of a young Monster Rider who can use a Kinship Stone to bond with monsters and then enhance your combined abilities.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is coming out in summer 2021.
