If you’re into vibrant action RPGs that have a slight Breath of the Wild tint then it’s likely you’ll already be sat at home waiting for Genshin Impact to install on your PlayStation.

Just ahead of its PlayStation 4 release we had a chance to look through the Genshin Impact trophy list. At a glance it doesn’t appear to be a challenging set with most trophies tied to progression i.e. levelling up different playable characters and unlocking chests.

Something players will notice is the lack of a platinum trophy. Of the 17 trophies up for grabs, Genshin Impact as 14 bronze and 3 silver which is a paltry collection. However, when you factor in that this is a digital-only free-to-play title it’s hard to complain – there’s always the potential for this list to expand with future updates and expansions.

You can review the full PS4 trophy list below. In the meantime here are those download link:

Miguel had some time with the Genshin Impact beta, and he wrote:

Genshin Impact is the kind of game I’ve been craving for a long time. I obsess over collecting the characters and upgrades in all sorts of free-to-play mobile games, but their insistence on repetitive short-form missions and minimal downtime always burns me out. Genshin Impact steps in a completely opposite direction, providing an immersive and zen world full of natural beauty to explore at your own pace, while also delivering a heaping helping of characters, skill points, missions, equipment and more that is sure to keep me glued to the full game for ages.

  1. “missing a Platinum at launch” really means “no Platinum, ever, no matter how many other trophies may get added”. You can get plenty of extra trophies with DLC, but Sony never let anyone add a Platinum later.

Especially with a game with such lazy trophies. 4 of those trophies seem to be repeated 3 times each, with increasing requirements. Couldn’t they come up with a different name for each of them??

Looks interesting though, and worth checking out for free.

    • Yeah, was about to say this too. No Plat at launch means the only way a game gets a plat is some kind of rerelease…
Also there are a bunch of free to play, digital only games that have a plat. If the developer wants one and is insistent enough, they will get one…

      • Agreed, never heard of a game having a platinum added later on. Chances are they had the option and decided not to bother with one.

      • I’ve a feeling Sony might have changed their rules on trophies for F2P games recently.

There’s a special hidden system of points applied to trophies (15, 30, 90 and 180), and recent F2P games seem to have a limit of about 300 points.

In this case, 14 bronze (14×15=210 points) and 3 silver (3×30=90 points) makes exactly 300 points. The previous free things I’ve played were Spell Break and Hyper Scape. Both around the same total number of points, and no platinum with 11 and 14 trophies in total.

So it looks like Sony are limiting trophies for F2P games. Even as far back as last year. Apex Legends was similar. But something 6 months earlier was allowed a platinium.

  2. So I gave this a go yesterday. Definitely worth a look. Stick with it after the first hour or two, and it starts throwing all sorts of game mechanics at you. And once you’ve got a party of 4, it gets quite fun switching between them and mixing all the elements together. (Somehow fire and ice does more damage rather than just sort of cancelling each other out)

Paying for anything seems completely unnecessary so far. Unless you really want some particular character, I think things should be fine.

Those trophies for “ascending” a character or weapon could take a while. Getting a character to level 20 to ascend the first time is easy. Almost too easy. But then you need your “adventure” level to be 15, which is slower. And some materials that you’ll probably accidentally find by then. And that adventure level goes up slowly as you do quests. Of which there are plenty.

Combat is quite fun, but starts of just being “bash circle to kill”. Once you get a quest to visit 3 dungeons, it gets more interesting. The dungeons neatly tell you which elements are recommended. If it says cryo, you’d better take someone that can freeze stuff.

Overall, lots of fun, looks nice, and plenty to do with (potentially) no need to spend money. Just be nice to poor Timmie.

And check your in-game mail. They keep sending mail like “We’ve got 10 million players already, have some free stuff”.

Also, Paimon can piss right off. The most annoying voice ever. (And the rest of the voice acting is quite good too)
