Wishing you a Merry Christmas from TheSixthAxis

Merry Christmas Header

Most years, when it comes to writing our Christmas well wishes, the biggest challenge I face is trying to say something slightly different to the year before. This year, the challenge is completely different.

Simply put, this Christmas is like nothing in living memory. Many people will be spending it alone, you might only be allowed a fleeting, awkwardly distant visit to family, and you’re far more likely to have some kind of video conferencing planned to try and bridge those necessary gaps.

Still, whatever your plans for today, whatever arbitrary sounding tier or level you currently find yourselves in, hopefully you can find joy at this time of year and recognise the love and friendships that you have with others.

On behalf of all the writers here at TheSixthAxis, I want to wish you, your families and your friends a very Merry Christmas!

While we obviously hope that there’s still plenty of merriment to go around at this time of year, 2020 has made that harder to find. The last few years we’ve highlighted charities that have focussed on children around the world – War Child and Save the Children remain two great examples – but this year has been especially challenging for those who struggle with mental health.

If you find yourself needing help or support at this time, Samaritans, Mind, Shout, and Childline are all charities in the UK that focus on mental health, awareness and crisis support. You can reach them via the above links or at the following numbers:

  • Samaritans – call 116 123
  • Shout – text SHOUT to 85258
  • Childline – call 0800 1111 between 7:30am and 3:30pm every day
  • Mind – call their infoline on 0300 123 3393

With lockdowns forcing charity shops to close their doors, practically every charity is facing shortfalls in funding right now, and if you’re in a position to do so, they would be grateful for your support.
