Get Star Wars Battlefront 2 free on PC next week

After their mega giveaway last Christmas, Epic Games are still loading freebies into the pipeline for 2021. To round out the year, Epic gave away fifteen games across fifteen days including AAA hits such as Jurassic World: Evolution and Alien: Isolation, as well as indie gems, Inside, Darkest Dungeon, and Night in the Woods just to name a few.

On January 14th, anyone with an Epic Games account will be able to redeem a free copy of Star Wars: Battlefront II on PC via the Epic store (client or browser). It’s worth pointing out that this is the “Celebration Edition” which includes loads of extra cosmetic DLC and skins based on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Star Wars : Battlefront II will be available for seven days – if you don’t claim it in that time then it’s gone for! If you like more of a tactical roguelike twist with your sci-fi games then maybe this week’s freebie, Crying Suns, is worth a look too. For the full list of every Epic free game check out the list we’ve compiled below, complete with our extensive review coverage.

  1. Thank you. I like the heads-up for these games, handed out free for a limited period of time. But for some time now I have wondered WHY The Sixth Axis continues to publish the list of “free” games below each of these articles?

The list now stretches back two years, and the games on it aren’t being given freely away anymore so what is the point? It is like saying: “Here are all the deals on Amazon that you might have missed”. What does the reader benefit from it? It is not news, it is just keeping a record of some kind, a record that is kind of pointless to most readers.

Right now it just seems to be a marketing stunt for the Epic Store, especially since the same is not done for the games on the consoles (PS Plus for example).

IMHO this list adds nothing to the article, but perhaps Jim can enlighten us to why it deserves to be published (and updated) each week? If TSA feel the need to keep this list, do so, but I do not think it deserves to be published in each article, link to it instead if you must.

    • Hi Max,

There are a few reasons why we do this. Some readers may want to see which games have been given away in past, either out of general interest or if they’re planning on buying a PC game. Some gamers might want to hold off buying a game if there’s a chance it could appear in Epic’s free catalogue.

It also gives us an opportunity to plug the hard work of our staff and contributors, giving their reviews some added exposure via the list.

  2. As good old Jim Bowen would say, “look at what you could’ve won!”

I’ve added a good chunck of these to my Epic account and I’ve yet to play any of them, still going through stuff on Steam which is my preferred platform tbh. I dislike Epic’s need to buy exclusives, with that said Zombie Army 4 should arrive on Steam soon, sadly priced around 40 quid knowing Steam (cdkeys maybe to the rescue).
